ZOLL Rectilinear Biphasic Waveform (RBW)

ZOLL's Rectilinear Biphasic™ Waveform provides a waveform that delivers high average current without damaging high peak current that can cope with a wide range of patient impedances without extending the shock duration. ZOLL does this by using a series of resistor bridges to maintain current and adjust for patient impedance.

So you can see by minimising the decay in the RBW, ZOLL defibrillators deliver more beneficial average current, without either increasing damaging peak current or energy.

While most other biphasic waveforms are able to be labelled as equivalent to monophasic shocks at 360J (through the FDA), only the ZOLL rectilinear biphasic is allowed to be labelled as superior to monophasic for cardioversion of AF, and defibrillation of high impedance VF.
